National Esports Championship 2023 for CS: GO, Dota 2, More Has Kicked Off, Winners to Represent India at 15th World Esports Championship

The National Esports Championship 2023 (NESC), hosted by the Esports Federation of India kicked off on March 15, 2023. The event is being held virtually and the victors will be selected as the contingent that will represent India at the 15th edition of the World Esports Championship (WEC) in Iasi, Romania. The event will consist of 275 of the best Esports athletes in the country competing across the following titles: CS:GO, Dota 2, Tekken 7 and eFootball 2023.

The event will go down in history, as this is the first time India’s top female CS:GO athletes will be representing the country at the World Esports Championship. The all-women CS:GO event will have two teams comprising of 11 athletes.

The bulk of the athletes will be competing in CS:GO, with 21 teams comprising of 127 athletes. Dota 2 will have six teams participating, which amounts to 33 athletes. Lastly, the single player titles, Tekken 7 and eFootball 2023 will have 72 and 32 athletes, respectively.

The next step for the qualified teams for titles such as CS:GO and Dota 2 will be participating in the Asia Regionals. This tournament has been scheduled between May and June of this year. On the other hand, players that qualify for the single player titles will be granted direct entry into the tournament’s global finals.

The 15th edition of WEC is something players will be looking forward to, as it has a massive prize pool of $500,000 or INR 4.12 Crore. This year will also mark the largest edition of the tournament. as it will have a record 130 countries battling it out to emerge victorious. The finals of WEC 15 will take place between August 24 and September 4, 2023.

The participation of such talented athletes will give India the impetus to exceed all expectations at the World Esports Championships. The qualifiers are going to be an exciting affair with high-quality gameplay and top-notch thrilling moments as every athlete gives it their all to compete on the biggest of stages. Everyone at ESFI wishes the participants all the best and is looking forward to the qualifiers”
