Veteran power forward Paul Millsap’s time with the Brooklyn Nets reportedly could be ending soon.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that Brooklyn has agreed to find a trade destination for Millsap where he’ll get more opportunities.

A 16-year veteran, Millsap is averaging career lows of 3.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in 24 games. He’s scored in double figures just twice this year.

The 36-year-old has not been able to find a consistent role with the Nets. He last played on Jan. 13, which was his first appearance since Dec. 27. Millsap was listed as out because of “personal reasons” for Wednesday’s contest against the Washington Wizards.

Brooklyn has a veteran-laden roster, particularly in its frontcourt. Millsap is stuck behind players such as James Johnson and Blake Griffin on the depth chart, as well as fourth-year forward Bruce Brown.

A four-time All-Star, Millsap was once one of the most productive power forwards in the league. He averaged over 14 points and seven rebounds for seven straight seasons from 2010-11 to 2016-17.

At 28-16, the Nets hold the third seed in a closely contested Eastern Conference and sit behind the Chicago Bulls (28-15) and Miami Heat (29-16). Brooklyn has gone 5-5 in its last 10 games and is without forward Kevin Durant, who went down with a sprained MCL against the New Orleans Pelicans last Saturday. He likely will not return until after the All-Star break.

The Nets will be back in action Friday in a road game against the San Antonio Spurs.
