New AirPods Pro are a ‘hit’ as Apple continues to dominate TWS market – Times of India

Back in September, Apple introduced the much-anticipated second-generation of its flagship true wireless earbuds — AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro are arguably one of the best true wireless earbuds one can buy and it does seem like a lot of people are lapping them up. According to a report by Canalys, Apple continues to be the market leader and sold more true wireless earbuds than anyone else in Q3, 2022.

Apple sales up, AirPods Pro doing well

Canalys estimates that Apple increased its shipments by 34% and had close to 31% of market share in the true wireless headphones category. Do note that this also includes the sales of Beats headphones which Apple has in its portfolio. However, the AirPods Pro, according to Canalys, gave Apple a “boost”. Canalys estimates that Apple shipped close to 4.2 million units of the AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro accounted for 20% of all AirPods shipments.
Samsung Buds2 Pro doing not ‘so well’
Canalys says that even though Samsung also introduced a flagship true wireless earbuds, its shipments were down by 25%. One of the reasons, as per Canalys, is the high selling price of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. “The late August shipping date and the higher selling price of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro limited the market performance of the Galaxy Bud series in Q3,” said Canalys Research Analyst Sherry Jin. “Samsung also took a more conservative approach in its bundling activities in Q3 to uphold the flagship positioning of its Pro series in its launch quarter,” added Jin.
Elsewhere, Indian brand Boat took third place with a 5% market share, but its growth rate slowed to 50%, says Canalys. Xiaomi and Skullcandy came fourth and fifth with 4% and 3% share respectively.
