A brand new SpongeBob SquarePants movie is on its way to Netflix called Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie.
Don’t fear, however, as SpongeBob himself does feature in the film too, as evidenced by a teaser image released by Netflix that shows the pair riding clams through the ocean.
“When Bikini Bottom and all its denizens are suddenly scooped out of the ocean, Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob SquarePants journey to Texas to save the town from a villainous plot,” reads the official synopsis.
Liza Johnson, who directed the Left Behind episode of The Last of Us on HBO alongside two episodes of A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix, is also directing The Sandy Cheeks Movie.
The story is by Kaz, who worked on the SpongeBob series, while Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller are executive producing.
Carolyn Lawrence is also returning from the series to play Sandy alongside Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, and they’ll be joined by Wanda Sykes, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Mr. Lawrence, Rodger Bumpass, Johnny Knoxville, Craig Robinson, Grey DeLisle, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, and Matty Cardarople.
