New York Post Website and Twitter Account Hacked
Hackers attacked the New York Post Thursday morning, gaining access to the news outlet’s website and Twitter account.
A New York Post spokeswoman confirmed the hack. “We’ve since taken down the vile and reprehensible content posted, and continue to investigate the cause,” she said in an emailed statement.
Tweets that appeared to come from the Post included fake quotes with crude language from New York gubernatorial candidate
Lee Zeldin
and Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas. Some of the quotes were directed at New York Democrats, Rep.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
and Gov.
Kathy Hochul.
Fake articles also appeared on the Post’s website. The company has removed the tweets and web content.
The New York Post and The Wall Street Journal are both owned by
News Corp.
