Nintendo: Next-Gen Console Could Be on Par With Previous-Gen Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One

Nintendo’s next-gen console is already in the works and we have received some interesting details due to the ongoing FTC Xbox trial. Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard has revealed that they have been in talks with Nintendo about their next-gen console and has revealed more information about it.

Bobby Kotick has revealed that the next-gen Nintendo console is closer to Gen 8 power, which is what was used for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Much of what he revealed has been redacted, but we know that the upcoming console will be aligned with Gen 8 power and they will be making the games for it accordingly.

Nintendo Reveals Measures to Tackle Scalpers

On the topic of Nintendo’s next-gen console, they have just revealed how they will be tackling scalpers during the launch of this console through a shareholder Q&A session (via VGC). Nintendo has stated that they understand the most important aspect of launching new hardware is to “first produce and ship in numbers that can meet customer demand”, after that other measures can be explored by them.

Nintendo Avoid Backwards Compatibility Questions

During the shareholder Q&A Session (via VGC), Nintendo was also asked about backwards compatibility for their next console, with one shareholder also calling it “disheartening” to not have the feature on the upcoming console. However, Nintendo avoided to question completely with company president Shuntaro Furukawa stating that he would “like to refrain from making any specific comments about future hardware.”

Nintendo Adds New Words to Banned List

For those who do not know, Nintendo has a list of banned words that Switch users are not allowed to use (via Kotaku). They have previously banned words like COVID, groomer, Nazi, and other words that might hurt the sentiments of others. The latest words that have been added to the list are TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) and Titler, which is a misspelled version of Hitler. It is being speculated that the term TERF is floating around in the Switch community, thanks to the upcoming arrival of the Hogwarts Legacy port.
