Nitish Rana: IPL 2023: Nitish Rana smokes six boundaries off Umran Malik’s over | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Chasing a mammoth 229-run target against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a disastrous start as they were reduced to 20/3 in 3.3 overs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday.
But skipper Nitish Rana soon shifted the momentum in KKR’s way with his cracking 75-run knock. In the process, Rana went hammer and tongs against SRH pacer Umran Malik to send all six deliveries over the boundary to collect 28 runs in the 6th over.
The left-handed batter Rana began the over with a four over short fine leg after the ball got a top edge. Rana then smacked a pull over midwicket for a maximum followed by a four to the left of midwicket.
The fourth delivery of the over saw Rana make room and hit it over extra cover for one bounce four. Malik continued with his short pitch bowling and Rana got another top edge that went over short fine for a four.
The over ended with another six to make 28 off it with Rana cutting the short of length delivery over backward point for maximum.
KKR skipper’s blinder of an innings came to an end in the 17th over when he was dismissed by SRH pacer T Natarajan. He hammered 6 sixes and 5 fours during his 41-ball stay at the crease.
KKR finished on 205/7 to suffer a 23-run defeat.
