We discovered earlier this month that Nokia was planning to launch two new smartphones, the Nokia C30 and Nokia C20 Plus. The latter has now shown up on Geekbench (via MySmartPrice) running a UNISOC chipset, similar to the one we’ve seen in the Nokia C20. Its single-core score of 126 and multi-score of 476 paint a grim picture of its performance. Then again, UNISOC chipsets were never revered as champions, to begin with. The Nokia C20 Plus Geekbench listing also tells us that the smartphone will ship with 3GB of RAM and run Android 11 out of the box.

Some digging reveals that the chipset in question is a UNISOC SC9863A. It was launched in 2019 and packs four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and four at 1.2GHz. The chip is based on a 28nm process node and has been featured in several low-profile devices from iTel, Lava, Gionee, Dogee, Panasonic, Lenovo, and even HTC. We can’t quite figure out why the Nokia C20 Plus runs this somewhat antiquated chipset when there are clearly better alternatives from Qualcomm and MediaTek.
We already know that the Nokia C20 Plus will ship with two rear camera modules, a 100% increase compared to the Nokia C20. Unfortunately, the phone won’t ship with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. That feature seems to be reserved for the Nokia C30. There is, however, a silver lining to the Nokia C20 Plus, though. It is tipped to features a 5,000mAh battery. That, combined with its relatively low-power SoC should allow for stellar battery life, although many would sacrifice that for some additional performance.
