Novak Djokovic investigation thrown out as tennis star’s positive Covid test deemed valid

Serbia’s state prosecutors have denied allegations suggesting Novak Djokovic forged a positive PCR test to enter Australia in January. Djokovic was in the middle of a whirlwind vaccination saga ahead of the 2022 Australian Open, culminating in his deportation from the country.

On Wednesday, prosecutors in Djokovic’s home country announced they had received a request to launch criminal proceedings against unnamed individuals for forging two PCR certificates.

It was claimed Djokovic later used those certificates to apply for his medical exemption to play at the Australian Open.

The Serbian tennis star is strongly opposed to the Covid vaccine, but Tennis Australia and the Victoria State Government granted him an exemption to enter the country and defend his title.

However, after a fortnight-long saga, which involved two stints in an immigration detention hotel, Djokovic was deported from Australia due to his vaccination status.
