Nvidia GeForce Now has been updated before the back-to-school season. The company is “spicing up” its browser-based game streaming for underpowered PCs and laptops. According to a report by XDA Developers, Nvidia GeForce Now will now support a 1440p maximum resolution and 120FPS game streaming in browsers. However, this feature is currently limited to the Chrome and Edge browsers and users need to be on the RTX 3080 tier to access the higher resolution and frame rate.
Nvidia GeForce Now availability
Users can try out Nvidia GeForce Now for free which supports games from libraries like — Steam, Epic Games and Ubisoft Connect. The game streaming service also includes paid subscription that starts at $50 for six months. However, the RTX 3080 tier with access to 4K gaming and up to 120FPS frame rates costs $100 for six months. Moreover, paid customers also get priority access to the servers.

How will this new feature work
As per the report, users don’t need to install any app as they can simply open a Chrome or Edge browser on a PC, visit the GeForce Now official website, select the new resolutions and refresh rates from the Settings menu and can immediately jump into games without the need to download it.
To enable the 1440p resolution and 120FPS frame rate, users have to open the Settings menu from the left-hand pane. Then, you have to look for the Streaming Quality section. Here, you can choose the Custom checkbox to open up the options to choose your resolution and frame rate. The report also mentions that users will need a good internet connection, as the platform is expected to use up to 19GB per hour on maximum settings.

However, users can also download the dedicated GeForce Now app to get these features on Windows and Mac. Meanwhile, the app supports up to 4K resolution as well as a 120FPS frame rate.
