Nvidia RTX Remix Open Source Modding Tool Now Live on GitHub
Nvidia has been doing a great deal lately for the gaming community as the company continues to make advancements in their ray tracing technology. It recently introduced Path Tracing or Full Ray Tracing to Cyberpunk 2077 with its much anticipated Overdrive Mode. It has also been working towards bringing ray tracing functionalities to classic PC titles.
This is being done through its latest introduction of the open source modding tool, Nvidia RTX Remix. Through this tool, modders will be able to remaster the DirectX 8 and DirectX 9 titles that support it, and this will also help bring ray tracing functionalities to these games. What’s more exciting is that Nvidia has announced that this tool is now available for modders to start working their magic on older games.

Nvidia RTX Remix allows modders to remaster these classic PC titles thanks to path tracing, Nvidia DLSS, AI-Enhanced textures and user-created assets. This toolkit is a part of Nvidia Omniverse which is the company’s platform for creators and was also responsible for bringing Portal with RTX. Players can find the Nvidia RTX Remix GitHub Code here.
The technology works in this way: Nvidia RTX Remix will capture a scene from the game the creator is working on and analyse all the assets present in that scenario. Then it will work towards replacing said assets while adding RTX technology such as path tracing, DLSS 3 and Reflex during playback.
