Nvidia Showcases DLSS 3, RTX 4080 Rolling Out to GeForce Now, Cloud Gaming in Cars and Its Reflex Ecosystem at CES 2023
Nvidia announced its latest advancements in graphics technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Other than revealing the RTX 40 series GPUs for laptops and the 4070 Ti desktop GPU, the company also showcased more about DLSS 3, the latest version of Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology.
DLSS uses AI and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX Tensor Cores to enhance frame rates while maintaining excellent image quality. DLSS 3 is the latest version which introduces a new Frame Generation technology that can increase DLSS performance by up to 4 times compared to native rendering. DLSS 3 is already available in 17 games, with support for another 33 games and apps set to release soon.
DLSS 3 will soon arrive on titles like Atomic Heart, Dakar Desert Rally, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, The Day Before, Warhaven, Witchfire and other 2023 games. DLSS 2 is also coming to some titles, such as Dead Space.
Nvidia also announced that its GeForce Now cloud gaming service will receive an upgrade with the addition of Nvidia Ada Lovelace Architecture GPUs. The upgraded GeForce Now RTX 4080 SuperPods will be exclusively available with the new Ultimate membership and will deliver high resolutions and frame rates, as well as ray-traced experiences to users.
There are also more games supporting Nvidia Reflex, which reduces system latency and overall responsiveness in games, particularly in competitive multiplayer titles. It consists of a combination of hardware and software features, including compatible monitors, peripherals, and in-game settings.
Nvidia Reflex is also coming to GeForce Now, which will stream games at 240 FPS. “Combined with Reflex, gamers playing on GeForce RTX 4080 SuperPODs can achieve click-to-pixel latency below 40ms, a first in cloud gaming. That’s about half the latency of a console game played natively in your home,” Nvidia says.
Nvidia also revealed that GeForce now will be coming to cars like Hyundai brands Kia and Genesis, as well as BYD, which is a leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs). Furthermore, Swedish premium electric vehicle brand Polestar will also have this feature.
A real-time, full PC-gaming experience can be brought right to your car as you wait for it to finish charging. When driving, the ability to stream games will be limited to passengers in the back seat, if there are screens in the vehicle.
“Accelerated computing, AI and connectivity are delivering new levels of automation, safety, convenience and enjoyment to the car,” said Ali Kani, vice president of automotive at Nvidia. “The ability to stream popular titles from gamers’ libraries along with dozens of free-to-play games will bring the in-vehicle infotainment experience to new heights.”
