Nvidia’s Latest Tech Can Upscale Low-Resolution Videos Through AI, Game Ready Drivers For Atomic Heart and The Finals Out

Nvidia has announced the release of RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR) for its GeForce RTX 40 and 30 Series GPUs. This new feature will make streaming video on PCs through Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers a much better experience, as the AI-powered upscaling technology can enhance lower-resolution content up to 4K.

RTX VSR uses a deep learning network that performs upscaling and compression artifact reduction in a single pass. The feature analyses lower-resolution video frames and predicts the residual image at the target resolution. This is then superimposed on top of a traditionally upscaled image. In short, RTX VSR removes compression artifacts and upscales the video to match the display’s resolution, which makes the result much clearer and sharper.

If you want to try this new feature out right now, you can update to the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver or the next NVIDIA Studio Driver if you have a GeForce RTX 40 or 30 Series GPU. RTX VSR requires Chrome (version 110.0.5481.105 or higher) or Edge (version 110.0.1587.56), and it only works on these two browsers for now. After updating the driver, go to Nvidia Control Panel, open “Adjust video image settings,” and check the super resolution box under “RTX video enhancement” to enable it. You can select the quality level from one to four.

Game ready drivers for Atomic heart and The Finals out

Game ready drivers are also out for Atomic Heart, which released on February 21. The game is compatible with Nvidia DLSS 3, Nvidia DLSS 2, and Nvidia Reflex. Nvidia claims that when DLSS 3 is enabled, performance on 4K resolution with a GeForce RTX 4090 increases by 90%, reaching 184 FPS. A GeForce RTX 4080 with DLSS 3 enabled, sees an 80% increase, reaching 146 FPS. Even at 1440p, a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti with DLSS 3 experiences a 62% performance boost, running on maximum settings at over 160 FPS.

Embark Studios’ free-to-play shooter, The Finals, is coming out soon, and it uses Nvidia RTXGI to calculate light and shadow for its destroyed buildings. GeForce RTX GPUs can enable DLSS and Reflex for improved performance and reduced system latency. The game’s closed beta begins on March 7, and interested players can sign up on the game’s Steam page.
