Okinawa to set up India’s largest fully integrated 2-wheeler EV plant producing 1 mn units per year

Okinawa Autotech’s lineup currently includes Okinawa Praise, R30, i-Praise, Lite, Ridge Plus, Dual and the Okhi 90. The company has its presence in 55 cities across 74 dealership touchpoints. Okinawa Autotech made record sales in May 2022 with 9,000+ units being sold.

Okinawa Autotech to invest in a new Mega Factory 

Okinawa Autotech plans to invest in its third and largest manufacturing facility in Karoli,  Rajasthan. The company is investing Rs 500 crore to set up a Mega Factory covering 30 acres of space. The plant is expected to become functional by October 2023 and is expected to employ 5,000 workers.

The mega facility will bring in state-of-the-art technology to increase production and will incorporate necessary plant automation and optimisations along with automated powertrain manufacturing. The facility will be capable of in-house production of batteries, motor and controller components, along with automated plastic body parts and a paint shop. The new Mega Factory when functional will be capable of producing 10 lakh units annually. This is more than double the production capacity of Okinawa’s second and largest plant which has a production capacity of 3 lakh units. Okinawa has two more plants, also in Rajasthan.

Other than the Karoli Mega Factory, Okinawa intends to direct funds to improving its R&D facilities as well as warehouses and supplier parks to facilitate growth in domestic and international markets.
