OnePlus is all set to launch its next-generation smartphone — OnePlus 10T — on August 3. However, it seems that the company will be sacrificing one of the most unique features of the OnePlus smartphones.
Ahead of the official launch, OnePlus has confirmed to The Verge that the OnePlus 10T will be the company’s first flagship smartphone without the popular alert slider.
For those who don’t know, since the first OnePlus smartphone, almost every OnePlus smartphone has had this alert slider which allows users to quickly change the ringer mode of the smartphone something similar to what we get on iPhones.
OnePlus has already removed this alert switch from some of its mid-range Nord-series smartphones and now the company is finally ditching it from its flagship phones as well.
Along with this, the company has also dropped the official images of the OnePlus 10T which gives us the first official look at the upcoming smartphone. The handset is almost similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, launched earlier this year. However, it misses out on the Hasselblad tag at the rear camera.
Why OnePlus is removing the alert slider
According to the report, OnePlus’ chief designer has confirmed that the alert slider takes around 30mm² on the motherboard. Removing the alert slider will allow the company to make room for other components such as a bigger battery, faster charging and a better antenna. Also, the alert slide implementation makes the phone ticker.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus 10T is already rumoured to feature a faster 150W charging along with a new antenna setup.
