OnePlus Ace Racing Edition debuts with MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max SoC; Indian launch expected soon | Digit

OnePlus has unveiled a new flagship-grade phone in its home market called the Ace Racing Edition. The original OnePlus Ace had launched in India as the OnePlus 10R. So, this newcomer could also cross borders under a different name. Just like the 10R or Ace, it is running on the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset. It has Android 12 software on top. But, the rest of the repertoire is different. For instance, the Racing Edition has got an LCD display whereas the regular Ace sports AMOLED.

OnePlus has placed a 6.59-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch-sampling rate, 600-nits of brightness in sunlight, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. There is a left cornered cutout housing a 16MP selfie shooter. 

On the rear side, there is a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide clicker, and a 2MP macro module. You can shoot up to 4K@30fps from the back camera.

The chip at the core is MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone relies on a 5000mAh battery backed by a 67W charging adapter.

The new OnePlus phone is also coming with X-axis linear vibration motor, an Android 12-based ColorOS 12.1, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, 3.5mm jack, and a USB-C port. 

There is no Alert Slider on its chassis though.

The device weighs 205g and its dimensions are 164.3mm x 75.8mm x 8.7mm.

OnePlus has priced the Ace Racing Edition at 1999 yuan (~₹22921) for the 8 + 128 GB model, 2199 yuan (`₹25214) for the 8+ 256 GB version, and 2499 yuan (~₹28654) for the 12+ 256 GB variant.

It is available in Blue and Grey colorways.

OnePlus could launch this phone rebranded under a different moniker according to tipster Mukul Sharma. Let’s see.
