oppo: Oppo Reno 8 with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset appears on Geekbench – Times of India

Oppo is preparing to introduce the next-gen Reno series, the Reno 8, in China soon. Yesterday, we learned about the Reno 8 Lite (insert hyperlink for yesterday’s story), which is expected to debut in Europe and is said to be a rebadged Reno 7 Lite. Now, another alleged member of the Reno 8 series, the vanilla Reno 8, has been spotted on Geekbench, revealing some of the key specifications of the upcoming Oppo smartphone.
The smartphone listed on Geekbench bears the model number PGAM10, which is said to be the vanilla version of the upcoming Reno 8. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core chipset codenamed ‘taro,’ which is expected to be Qualcomm’s yet to be released Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. The chipset offers 4 cores clocked at 1.80GHz and another cluster of 4 cores running at a frequency of 2.36GHz.
As per the Geekbench listing, the smartphone has 8GB of RAM and runs Android 12, probably with Oppo’s ColorOS 12.1 skin. The smartphone managed to score a single-core score of 712 and a multi-core score of 2385 in Geekbench 5.
There is not much known about the Oppo Reno 8 but a few reports earlier have tipped the smartphone’s specifications. The Reno 8 is expected to feature a 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a centred punch-hole cutout. It could boast a 4500mAh battery supporting 80W fast charging. Further, the Reno 8 might come with a triple camera sensor led by a 50MP primary sensor and a 32MP camera on the front.
