Yoasobi’s hit song Idol, which is the opening theme song for Oshi no Ko, has reached a remarkable milestone, surpassing 200 million streams after dominating the Billboard Japan charts for nine consecutive weeks.
The song’s success has shattered the previous record of eleven weeks held by Official Hige Dandism’s Subtitle, which served as the theme song for the live-action TV series Silent.
Idol has achieved several notable accolades, including being the fastest song to hit 100 million streams and securing the second-highest number of streams for a single week ever during its fifth week.
The Oshi no Ko song also became the first Japanese single to reach No.1 on the Billboard Global chart (excluding the United States).
With this achievement, Yoasobi now holds the distinction of having 14 singles surpass 100 million streams, surpassing Official Hige Dandism as the artist with the most such singles on Billboard Japan.
