Overeem contacts ONE about openweight Muay Thai grand prix

“The grand prix only for ONE fighters but we’re always constantly signing athletes, several we haven’t announced,” Chatri told the Post.

“I want to hear from the fans. It will kick off in March. This will be the biggest grand prix in the history of Muay Thai. It’s very fascinating.”

A former Dream heavyweight kickboxing champion, and former K-1 World Grand Prix champion, Overeem has 11 wins and 4 losses in kickboxing, but has never fought Muay Thai professionally.

The former UFC star was also a Strikeforce heavyweight MMA champion. He returned to Glory after being splitting with the UFC in 2021.

“The Demolition Man” went 49-17 in MMA, and has a long history of fighting in Asia – and in grand prix tournaments.

Overeem had two spells in the Japan-based PRIDE FC, the Japanese MMA promotion that was one of the most popular organisations in the world during its 10-year existence.

Pride was known for putting an emphasis on spectacle with fighters often matched up against opponents from wildly different weight classes.
