Overwatch 2 Will Tweak Its Rewards System; Blizzard to Soon Remove the Game Along With WoW, Diablo 3, and More From China

It’s been around a month since the release of Overwatch 2, and following a troubled launch, the game has since picked up its form, with the community mostly enjoying their experience.

However, the Overwatch community has found a glaring issue with the game’s rewards and progression system. In a new developer blog post, Executive Producer Jared Neuss talked about the problem that fans have clamored about for quite some time.

Neuss claimed that the developers want players to feel rewarded after playing Overwatch 2 matches, and they intend to do just that with future short-term and long-term changes.

When it comes to the former, Blizzard will be tweaking its rewards for Season 2, which would feel much more satisfying compared to Season 1. On the other hand, the long-term goal in Season 3 and beyond would feature changes to the Battle Pass system with more “interesting challenges,” and play-focused progression systems for players to try out.

More details on these changes will be revealed in the future by the developers.

What changes do you want to see in Overwatch 2’s rewards and progression system?

However, all of these changes might not matter in the end for users in China, as the game is at risk of becoming unplayable in the future.

The issue arises from Overwatch developers Blizzard unable to reach an agreement with its licensing partner in China, NetEase. The lack of an agreement between the two companies also affects the playing status of other Blizzard titles like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, StarCraft, Diablo III and more.

In a press release from Blizzard, the company confirmed that these titles will no longer be able to play in China following the end of the current licensing deal on January 23, 2023.
