NEW DELHI: Pakistan are scheduled to embark on a tour of England next year, where they will participate in a four-match T20 series as part of their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to be held in the United States and the West Indies.
In an announcement made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday, it was revealed that alongside the men’s squad, the national women’s team will also undertake a tour of England in May of the same year. The women’s tour will consist of three T20Is and three fixtures as part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25.
Prior to arriving in England, the Pakistan men’s team will engage in three T20 internationals against the Netherlands and a similar series against Ireland.
Pakistan, who finished as runners-up in the last T20 World Cup, having been defeated by England in the final, also reached the semi-finals of the 2021 World Cup, where they were eliminated by Australia.
The T20 matches against England will be held at Leeds on May 22, Birmingham on May 25, Cardiff on May 28, and The Oval in London on May 30.
On the other hand, England holds the second position in the ICC T20I team rankings, while Pakistan ranks fourth.
The women’s team tour will commence with the first T20I taking place in Birmingham on May 11, followed by two additional matches in Northampton on May 17 and Leeds on May 19. Subsequently, Derby, Taunton, and Chelmsford will serve as the venues for the three ODIs, scheduled for May 23, 26, and 29, respectively.
