Payday 3 open beta release time, date and bad news for PS5 owners
The third instalment in the popular multiplayer heist series Payday launches on September 21 for consoles and PC. With the release date just a couple of weeks away, Payday 3 developer Starbreeze Studios has announced plans to hold an open beta in order to test the servers. The Payday 3 open beta has a midnight launch time on September 9 for fans living in the UK. (There are actually two different times listed on the Payday 3 website, so you may actually be able to play the game at 3pm BST on September 8.) The Payday 3 open beta ends just a few days later on September 11.
Unfortunately, however, the Payday 3 open beta is only available on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. PS5 users will have to wait until the game launches in full to sample the heist-based action.
If you want to jump into the action on Steam, then Starbreeze recommends visiting the store page and clicking the “request access” option near the top of the page.
Xbox users, on the other hand, will need to sign up to the Insiders Hub, navigate to the previews section, and select Payday 3.
As an open beta, fans don’t need to pre-order Payday 3 in order to gain access to the demo.
It’s also worth pointing out that the upcoming beta is the same version of the game from the technical beta launched in August. It’s based on an older build of the game from April 2023.
As part of the Payday 3 open beta, fans will be able to play as the original gang of Dallas, Hoxton, Chains and Wolf.
Starbreeze explains more: “No rest for the wicked is a PAYDAY 3 bank heist, that charges the players with relieving a small bank of the cash cluttering up their vault.
“It’s their own choice to go stealth without anyone noticing how the cash evaporated or go loud to really experience that NYC robbery feeling.
“All difficulties will be playable, level cap is Infamy Level 22 and Weapon Level Progression is at 8.”
