Pick your Prem Team of the Year as Man Utd and Arsenal stars battle it out

It’s Team of the Year time again. It’s been one to remember for plenty of individual Premier League players this season, which comes to a climax this Sunday at around 6pm. But who are the 11 players who you think should make it into the 2022-23 end of season XI? Now’s the time to tell us…

We’ve compiled five players per position in a 4-3-3 formation and we want you to vote for those you think are worthy of being labelled the best in their role this season. We will then reveal who you have picked as the Express Sport Team of the Year next week.

With the official Premier League PFA team still to come, Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have already selected who they think should make the 11 on Monday Night Football earlier this week. The pair both agreed on having Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier at right-back as well as Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard in midfield.

They also agreed upon a quartet of Manchester City players – Ruben Dias, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne and Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland. The pair did disagree on a further five positions however.

In goal, Neville picked Nick Pope of Newcastle while Liverpool legend Carragher sided with Alisson from his former club. Alongside Dias at centre-back, Arsenal defender William Saliba made Gary’s XI with Newcastle favourite Sven Botman in Jamie’s.

Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan made Manchester United icon Neville’s team at left-back with the United icon going for Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in attack. Their Gunners team-mate Oleksandr Zinchenko was in Carragher’s line-up, but he named Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Tottenham’s Harry Kane instead of Saka and Martinelli in the front three.

All of those players are among the options in our Team of the Year, which you can pick below. Champions City are likely to dominate your thoughts but there are some incredibly tough calls to make this year.

Among them are at centre-back – will you go Dias or Saliba as the right-sided centre-back? Botman or Lisandro Martinez on the left? In midfield, is it Rodri or Casemiro in holding midfield for you?

Further forward, do you pick Saka or Salah on the right side of the attack? Does United talisman Marcus Rashford make it in on the left over Martinelli? Have your say in our poll below by picking one player for each position…
