Plusnet customers just have a number of weeks left to enjoy the broadband provider’s TV service. The BT-owned telecommunications company has announced that it will be closing down its YouView-powered paid-for TV service entirely. The big Plusnet TV shutdown comes into effect on November 1 and will leave customers without access to popular channels such as BT Sport, Eurosport, Discovery and more.
In total 15 channels will be removed from the Plusnet YouView box, and users will no longer be able to pause or record live TV.
Anyone thinking of still keeping hold of the set top box will still, however, be able to access standard Freeview channels as well as apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Netflix and NOW.
Plusnet’s TV offering, which cost £5 extra a month, has looked like its days have been numbered for some time now.
At the start of 2021 Plusnet announced that from January 19 they wouldn’t be taking new orders for the service.

While not long after that it was announced that existing customers wouldn’t be able to renew their YouView contract.
If you’ve been left unhappy about this news there is one small silver lining.
As Money Saving Expert reported, Plusnet has been letting customers who are unhappy with this change cancel their broadband and TV contract penalty free.
Plusnet reportedly began informing customers of the YouView TV shutdown on August 17, with customers given a 30 day window to cancel penalty free.
So time is running out if you do want to cancel your Plusnet contract without incurring any fees.
After this 30 day period is up you will be faced with an early termination fee if you do decide to move to a different service.
Speaking about the change, a Plusnet spokesperson said: “As a value provider, we’re all about giving customers simple, reliable broadband with great customer service. We are simplifying our product range and from 1st November we will no longer provide YouView TV as part of our broadband service to existing customers. Customers will still to be able to enjoy great content as part of the BT Sport App.”
If you do wish to continue having access to any of the soon-to-be deleted Plusnet TV channels then there’s always the option to move providers.
Major internet service providers (ISPs) such as Virgin Media, Sky and BT regularly run promotional offers to entice new customers over.
