The PM pointed out Dahiya’s fighting spirit and tenacity, while President Kovind joined in on the congratulations, saying India is proud of the wrestler, calling him a ‘true champion’.

“Ravi Kumar Dahiya is a remarkable wrestler! His fighting spirit and tenacity are outstanding. Congratulations to him for winning the Silver Medal at #Tokyo2020,” Modi tweeted. India takes great pride in his accomplishments, he added.

“India is proud of Ravi Dahiya for winning the wrestling Silver at #Tokyo2020. You came back into bouts from very difficult situations and won them. Like a true champion, you demonstrated your inner strength too. Congratulations for the exemplary wins & bringing glory to India,” tweeted Kovind.

Modi also lauded the efforts of wrestler Deepak Punia who came close to winning a bronze medal on his Olympic debut. “Deepak Punia lost the Bronze narrowly but he has won our hearts. He is a powerhouse of grit and talent. My best wishes to Deepak for his future endeavours,” the PM said.
