Pokemon Concierge lead star Non on the upcoming Netflix series
Pokemon Concierge will follow the story of Haru, voiced by Non, who is a concierge at the resort which tends to Pokemons and their trainers. Speaking about her experience working for the stop-motion anime series, Non talked about how the artists perfectly captured her mannerisms and facial expressions for Haru.
“Once I saw the finished scenes, they were very different from what you’d see in 2D, 3D, or CG animation. I was able to feel like ‘Oh, [stop motion] is also how you can enjoy Pokémon,” Non said. “When I saw [Haru] in action, I felt that it was totally believable and convincing.”
At the Anime Expo 2023, Non also reportedly shared her thoughts (via Kotaku) on her character Haru and added that Pokemon Concierge will be therapeutic to watch.
“I’m sure we’ve all [felt like] we are bombarded, under pressure, or that we don’t want to get up and keep doing what we’ve been doing and just give up. But when you see Pokémon Concierge, it’s really therapeutic and it makes you want to try and be the best you can be. I wish viewers will see Pokémon Concierge [and feel like] they can keep going.”
Non has also added how Psyduck, which is Haru’s Pokemon companion in Concierge, has now grown to become her favorite Pokemon. Earlier while playing the Pokemon games, she was fond of Mewtwo. But seeing how “cute” and “adorable” Psyduck looks in stop-motion animation, made him her current favorite.
