Pokemon Go: Niantic Officially Adds Campfire Support, Removes ‘Unintended’ Spawn Boost

It has been a rough time lately for Pokemon Go players with the number of mistakes made by Niantic. The latest one deals with the Pokemon spawn radius boost. What seemed like a reward for putting up with recent mishaps, turned into another disappointment for the players. Niantic quickly rolled back on the spawn boost after it was discovered, and put out a statement calling it an “unintended effect of a bug fix.” Niantic also has some good news for fans as the Campfire app finally supports Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go Increased Spawn Radius Boost

Niantic had rolled out a new patch which saw some players have an increased spawn radius boost. This meant more Pokemon encounters and players were surprised but glad to see it. The developers soon removed the change and explained their decision on social media. Apparently, they were trying to fix a bug about players with GPS drift and this caused the unintended spawn radius boost.

Pokemon Go and Campfire

Niantic has announced that Campfire can now be used within the Pokemon Go app. Campfire is Niantic’s social app for players to team up, invite or join raids and more. The app helps Pokemon Go players find local and remote raids as well. Players can also mark areas where a rare pokemon appeared, so as to help other players find them. The new Team Up feature eliminates the need to rely on raid invites.

Campfire allows players of Niantic games to team up to complete tasks, mark specific areas of interest, and more. Within Pokemon Go, players will be able to find local and remote raids and designate areas where a rare Pokemon has appeared for other players to find. Pokemon Go Fest 2023 is set to take place in August in London, Osaka and New York City. So, the arrival of Campfire ahead of it would make it more beneficial for players during the fest.
