Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Breaks Records by Selling 10 Million Copies in 3 Days; Fans Unveil Africa-Based Adaptation

The new Pokémon video game arrived earlier this week, and it has stirred the Internet quite a bit. Following a ton of waiting for fans, the game launched a couple of weeks ago. However, it was riddled with issues, glitches, and bugs that fans weren’t happy about. Despite these major caveats, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet seems to be a major commercial success for Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.

In a press release from Nintendo, the Japanese video game giants announced that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sold over 10 million units in its first three days. These massive sales figures have shot the recent title to the top of Nintendo charts, as the game has now become the company’s fastest selling title.

Check out these eye-popping sales figures of Nintendo’s newest title.

Yes, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet had a bigger launch than the likes of Mario Kart 8, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and more.

The title’s biggest success story came from Nintendo’s home nation in Japan. According to Nintendo, out of the 10 million units sold around the world, Japan topped the figures with 4.05 million sales. To put how big the numbers are, Famitsu‘s weekly sales charts saw Pokémon Scarlet and Violet at the top with 2,537,292 physical copies. While you might have obviously guessed the game ranked at the top in Japan, the second most popular title of the week in Splatoon 3 sold just around 36,000 units.

At the moment, it remains to be seen how the performance and optimization problems might affect Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s sales figures in the coming days. However, for now, it seems like Nintendo will be laughing on its way to the bank, thanks to the sales figures mentioned above.

Check out Pokémon Order and Chaos based in Africa

In other Pokémon news, a group of fans headed by Mykel Ryan have showcased the first gameplay footage of a game they are building. Set in Africa, the title, dubbed “Pokémon Order and Chaos,” will be a free-to-play game.

The gameplay footage features Wretched Wastelands of the Leweka Region. With the classic 2D look resembling some of the classic titles of the series, Order and Chaos would easily fit into the franchise’s main lineup and no one would bat an eye.

At the moment, the game’s still early in development, with no potential release dates on offer.
