Pokemon Sleep was released on July 17 for Android and iOS devices. The Pokemon Company marketed the game as a way to catch Pokemon even when you are sleeping. How? Well, all you need to do is sleep and let the app work its magic. The magic at play here is that Pokemon Sleep records your sleeping habits, duration, and more. While that sounds odd enough, the app is also encouraging its users to have a sound and good rest every night as it increases the strength of their Pokemon and attracts more Pokemon including shiny versions.
Here’s the catch: Pokemon Sleep is also recording audio of your sleeping habits. So all those yawning and coughing also get recorded. Funnily enough, so will all the farts. Pokemon fans soon discovered that even their farts are being recorded by Pokemon Sleep, as spotted by GamesRadar. While some may feel weird that the app is just about recording everything, others saw the funny side to it.
To be fair though, Pokemon Sleep has no intention of doing that (I hope). The app is always recording audio to monitor your sleep and any sound above the app’s decibel threshold is bound to be recorded. So if there’s any fart that is loud enough, Pokemon Sleep will record it. Thankfully, the recordings are automatically deleted after 24 hours or until the next time you sleep. So even if you and the app know about those farts, it will be a secret between you two. Also, it is key to note that these recordings are not being saved on the cloud or the app’s database. Nevertheless, if you want to avoid this situation altogether, you can turn off audio recordings in Pokemon Sleep.
