Pressure of matching last year’s show will be there, says Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson | Cricket News – Times of India

JAIPUR: Sanju Samson and Rajasthan Royals are two sides of the same coin. The inspirational leader of Rajasthan Royals has seen the ups and downs of the team quite closely having been part of the squad for a decade now.
“I joined Rajasthan Royals when I was just 18. Now I am 28 and it’s been a remarkable journey so far. The last ten years have been thoroughly exciting and challenging. This is my team and I always want to see RR doing well,” said Samson during the launch of the team’s new jersey here recently.
The wicketkeeper-batter Samson is looking forward to yet another grueling season as the Indian Premier League (IPL) is getting underway on March 31.
The Kerala star is aware of the expectations from the team management and fans as they brace themselves to live up to the high standards set last year.

“Pressure of matching last year’s show will always be there. It was a dream performance by the entire team to reach the summit clash in 2022. Having reached the final last year, people will be expecting us to dazzle yet again. We have no choice but to play well and match last year’s feat if not doing better,” said Samson.
Runners-up of the last edition RR started their third and final preparatory camp at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Tuesday. Most of the players have joined the camp and began preparations under the watchful eyes of head coach Kumar Sangakkara.
“We are fortunate to have Sangakkara as our coach. He is a legendary player and having him in the dressing room and on the ground while practicing is a big boost for all of us. With his vast experience, we are always in the process of improving ourselves. He is constantly thinking of different strategies for the benefit of the squad,” said Sangakkara.
I will try to continue my domestic form in IPL: Yashaswi Jaiswal
Yashaswi Jaiswal has been in tremendous form in the domestic season. He has done no harm to his growing reputation by creating a record in the recently concluded Irani Cup. The dashing left-hander was the first batter to hammer centuries in both the innings of the prestigious domestic tournament.
Yashaswi won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his exploits with the bat in the final against Madhya Pradesh in Gwalior. The 21-year-old Mumbai lad ended up as top scorer in any Irani Cup tie with a total of 357 runs.
“I am in solid form this season. The Irani Cup was the icing on the cake with twin centuries. I am very confident now due to a successful domestic season. I am eager to carry on my splendid form in the upcoming IPL so that my team benefits from it. Obviously, the challenge will be bigger, but I am going to give my best,” said Jaiswal.
