PSG tease Lionel Messi transfer with social media video as Barcelona icon nears move

PSG have teased Lionel Messi’s imminent signing with a video on social media. The Barcelona icon is poised to sign for the Ligue 1 giants on a two-year contract after leaving the Catalan titans behind. And it promises to be a blockbuster deal, with the 34-year-old now primed to play alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe next term.

Messi announced he’d be leaving Barcelona on Sunday, holding an emotional farewell press conference as players, journalists and the Argentine himself were left in tears.

And, now, he’s set to join PSG.

Messi has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and even Tottenham – but he’s now decided to chance his arm in Ligue 1 instead.

And PSG have now shared a video teasing his imminent move.

In the clip, it has brief snapshots of Messi wearing his Argentine colours, as well as six Ballon d’Ors. And it’s now obvious the Barcelona icon will be wearing their colours next term.

Messi made it clear, too, that he did everything in his power to stay at Barcelona.

“I don’t know, what I have very clear is that I did everything I could,” when asked on whether the Catalan titans tried their hardest to keep him.

“From my side, I did everything to stay, that is what I wanted.”

And the Argentine also admitted it was the hardest moment of his career so far.

“No doubt, this is the hardest moment,” said the 34-year-old, who is set to sign a two-year contract over in France.

“We had hurtful defeats but football gives you a chance to avenge that. But there is no turning point to this.

“People will get used to it. It might be strange to start but they will get used to it.

“The reality is that after the elections, I went for lunch with the new president and we spoke and after that meal I was convinced that I was going to stay and there would be no problem to do so.

“My contract was never a problem. But it was not possible.”
