‘PUBG: Battlegrounds’ dataminer reportedly had a private investigator at their house

According to PUBG: Battlegrounds dataminer PlayerIGN, developer Krafton sent a private investigator to their house.

PlayerIGN published a TwitLonger earlier this week (May 25) saying “a private investigator was just outside my house” (via TheGamer).

The private investigator apparently handed PlayerIGN a letter telling them to “take down all my social media posts of leaks, provide a full account of how much revenue I made, and provide all DMs of how I got said information.”

PlayerIGN then provided some personal context to how they get their information, and what they may do going forward. They said the leaks they get are not them seeking out “people/systems for information, but mostly vice versa,” adding “I don’t really know what to do right now. I just want to get some help before I make moves.”

As of publication PlayerIGN has made no further comments on Twitter, and Krafton has made no public statements either.

In other PUBG news, The Callisto Protocol is no longer part of the PUBG universe, according to Striking Distance Studios founder Glen Schofield. “It was originally part of the PUBG timeline, but grew into its own world. PUBG is awesome, and we will still have little surprises for fans, but [The Callisto Protocol] is its own world, story and universe,” he said.

The Dead Space-inspired horror title is being published by Krafton, and Schofield explained why it was decided that the battle royale would be detached from the game:

“The idea of us being in the universe at first sound really good, and then as you start coming up with your story we realised, ‘Wow, this is a little out there.’ We built in some touchpoints, and you’ll find them throughout the game like Easter eggs and things like that.”

In other news, developer FromSoftware has addressed the ongoing PC server outage for the Dark Souls trilogy, with fixes coming “progressively.”
