PUBG Mobile: Battle Royale Game is Most-Watched Esports Title of the Year Beating Free Fire and Apex Legends; Bruce Lee Collaboration Announced
PUBG Mobile is the most-watched esports title in 2022. Battle royale has become one of the most popular genres over the past few years, and it’s no wonder why. The last-man standing games are entertaining to watch and have millions of players worldwide.
Esports analytical service Esportscharts (as spotted by MySmartPrice) recently released a report on the most-watched esports battle royale games of 2022. Krafton’s PUBG Mobile emerged as the top game on the list, with Apex Legends coming in at second place. In 2022 alone, PUBG Mobile esports content received over 112 million hours of watch time.
The game’s top five tournaments this year have all received over 7 million hours of viewing time, and the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 Grand Finals, which will take place soon, has already acquired over 20.9 million hours of watch time. While PUBG Mobile may have the highest watch time, in terms of peak viewers, Free Fire takes the top spot.
The esports scene is becoming more and more popular worldwide, and in India battle royale games propelled esports and gaming in general to the mainstream. This came about with the launch of PUBG Mobile in 2018, and Indians are now hooked to gaming and esports content.
PUBG Mobile’s Bruce Lee Collaboration
The PUBG Mobile 2.4 update will bring with it a new feature called Back for Honour. It allows players who have been eliminated to return to the game for a chance at revenge against their killer. The update will also introduce a new map called Misty Port, complete with ziplines, stairs, NPC enemies, and sellable items. The update will also bring a grappling hook to the game, allowing players to easily reach higher ground and change up their tactics.
In celebration of the Bruce Lee collaboration, the update will also include a martial arts-themed area with multiple arenas for players to fight in. Alongside Bruce Lee, the update will also bring themed outfits and in-game items. The new content will also introduce the explosive bow, a weapon similar to the one in Fortnite that allows players to set off explosions with their arrows. The update will also bring a new vehicle called the Dancing Lion, which can be stored in a backpack. The PUBG Mobile 2.4 update is set to release on January 6.
