Racing fans want Max Verstappen banned after Red Bull star hits rival on purpose

F1 fans have turned on Max Verstappen and suggested the Dutchman should be “banned” after a sim racing crash on Saturday. Verstappen was disqualified from the Golden Toast GP after deliberately driving into another competitor.

The reigning world champion was clipped by Sven-Ole Haase at turn one which dropped the Red Bull driver down the field. But, Verstappen refused to accept the move and got his own back in a shocking incident moments later.

The 25-year-old cut the corner at Spa Francorchamps’ Les Combes corner and then slammed into Haase at full speed. The contact threw both cars into the gravel, ruining Haase’s race in revenge.

And racing fans were quick to slam Verstappen on social media as they called out his actions as being unacceptable. @F1Jamez said: “I swear you get banned from iRacing for behaviour like this? Or will he get away with it because he’s Max Verstappen?

“I find it crazy how a 25-year-old F1 world champion can get this mad over a video game lmao.”

@singhdev872 added: “People have literally been banned for life from Esports for these kind of actions. But hey, it’s ‘F1 world champion Max Verstappen’. The only guy in the field who’s main job is not sim racing but still reacts like that contact at t1 destroyed his career.”

@there_is_no_if commented: “A double Formula 1 world champion spotted leading by example and showing online racing community that ‘an eye for an eye’ approach is what maturity behind the wheel looks like.” @JH_F1_44 reacted: “If anyone else did this they’d be banned but because it’s Max Verstappen he’ll get away with it again.

“Ruining sim racing and setting a bad example for his followers. You’d think that a 25-year-old would be able to control their emotions a lot better by now.”

But, some Verstappen fans came to their star’s defence and suggested it was only Lewis Hamilton supporters who cared. @HorridCrow posted: “I knew Hamifans would jump on this like it mattered. Rent free.”
