Assam Cricket Association (ACA), on Wednesday night, announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy matches that will commence from December 13 across the country.
The squad is for the first two matches against Saurashtra (December 13-16) and Delhi (December 20-23), to be played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Opening batter-wicketkeeper Kunal Saikia has been chosen to lead the team, which is high on confidence following their last-four finish in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, the domestic one-day tournament.
Notable performers in Vijay Hazare Trophy — like Riyan Parag, Rishav Das, Swarupam Purakayastha, Sibsankar Roy, Sunil Lachit, Mukjhtar Hussain — have found places in the squad for the prestigious red-ball meet. Right-arm medium pacer Rajjakuddin Ahmed, who had a good outing in Vijay Hazare, has been kept as one of the 11 standbys. The standbys have been asked to continue to be in the ongoing camp for Ranji Trophy at Barsapara Cricket Stadium.
