Rasmus Hojlund will be instant Man Utd favourite as Liverpool jibe surfaces

Manchester United have placed emphasis on signing players desperate to represent the club under Erik ten Hag’s revolution. Rasmus Hojlund undoubtedly falls under that category as he closes in on a dream £72million switch to Old Trafford this week.

United have reportedly agreed a deal with Atalanta for the 20-year-old, making him the most expensive striker in the club’s history.

He is expected to complete his move in the coming days, with two weeks left until the new season commences against Wolves in the Premier League.

Hojlund has the makings of an instant fan favourite in the Stretford End after a previous Liverpool snub resurfaced on social media.

Fans have discovered Hojlund’s old Facebook profile, on which he set his profile picture with a United overlay in November 2015.

And when told by a friend that he should support Liverpool instead in his comments section, he responded: “Come on United.”

Hojlund will add much-needed firepower to Ten Hag’s attacking ranks, joining Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as striker options.

Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho make up the forward department, with Facundo Pellistri and Amad likely to leave on loan.

Speaking in Las Vegas after United’s final game on their United States pre-season tour, fellow Denmark international Christian Eriksen spoke highly of Hojlund.

He told the Press Association: What’s he like? He’s a strong number nine. He’s developed a lot in the last year from when I first saw him with the national team [to] a year’s time. So, yeah, he’s a very good player.”
