realme: Realme foldable smartphone expected to launch in 2022 – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Earlier this week, Realme confirmed that it is set to enter the high-end smartphone segment. The company CEO Sky Li has confirmed that the smartphone maker is gearing up for the launch of high-end smartphones priced over $800 (Rs 59,500).
Now a Realme executive has hints that the Chinese smartphone maker might launch a foldable and under-display camera phone. There are chances that Realme might launch the smartphone next year.
In a Weibo post, Realme China, CMO, Xu Qi Chase stated that new smartphone types such as under-screen cameras and foldable tech ‘will further mature’ by next year. Chase posted, “In 2022, high-resolution and high-quality digging screens will become the mainstream, and new forms such as under-screen and folding will further mature.”
So, there are chances that Realme might also join the bandwagon of foldable smartphones next year. Another Weibo post suggests that Realme’s first foldable smartphone is likely to be called — Realme GT 2 Fold.
The sketch of the upcoming foldable smartphone from Realme was also posted on Weibo. Designed by Yani from Realme design studio, the smartphone is expected to come with an 8-inch internal AMOLED display and a 6.5-inch external screen.
The design also highlights that the smartphone might house a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a bottom firing speaker. In terms of the design, the smartphone looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Rumours suggest that the company might consider including a E5 AMOLED display which is seen in other flagship smartphones. Along with this, the company is also expected to make improvements in its main camera and might also add a telephoto lens to the upcoming expensive smartphones.
