Realme to showcase “240W” charging on January 5 – Times of India

Everyone’s running to introduce the fastest charger they can. Xiaomi recently unveiled 210W charging with the Redmi Note 12 Explorer, taking the lead, but that may not last long. Realme, which has for quite some time, is rumoured to be working on 240W charging, which we may see with the GT Neo 5.
We do not know when the GT Neo 5 will launch, but the company has announced an event in China scheduled for January 5, where it will showcase the “leapfrog” of the charging technology. As per the Weibo post and poster for the event, the “leapfrog” technology could be the much-rumored 240W charging that may debut with the Realme GT Neo 5.
The title of the fastest charging smartphone of Realme is currently the GT Neo 3, which offers support for 150W charging. Though it also comes in an 80W charging variant. The variant with the 150W charging boasts a 4500mAh battery, whereas the 80W one has a 5000mAh battery.
Now with the GT Neo 5, the company is rumoured to take a similar approach – introducing two variants – supporting 150W and 240W, and these 5000mAh and 4600mAH batteries, respectively.
Realme GT Neo5: What to expect
The GT Neo 5 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display having a resolution of 2772×1240 pixels, 144Hz refresh rate, and 2160 PWM dimming.
The 240W charging variant of the GT Neo 5 is rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, while the 150W one may come with Mediatek Dimensity 8100 chipset.
The GT Neo 5 is rumoured to come with a 50MP IMX890 main camera with 0.6-20x zoom and OIS. Further, the smartphone would have two auxiliary cameras.
It is currently unknown when the Realme GT Neo5 will be launched, but it is expected to launch in early 2023 in China.
