Red Bull taunt F1 rivals Mercedes and Ferrari with cheeky Xmas post

Red Bull have taken a cheeky dig at their main F1 rivals Mercedes and Ferrari with a creative social media post. The 2022 Constructors’ champions posted an image on Twitter that is set in the living room of a house, which is decorated festively.

As the open fire burns in the background and snow drops to the ground through the windows, Santa Clause has been drawn bringing a turkey into the room. A speech bubble above his head reads: “The turkey might’ve taken us over budget…”

The quip pokes fun at Red Bull’s overspending for the 2021 campaign, in which they have been hit with a fine and a reduction in wind tunnel time. Red Bull’s defence was that they were pushed over the limit because of catering costs, which is mocked further as Adrian Newey is holding a sandwich in background.

Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are stood with the F1 car designer with gifts in hand. In front of the trio are two young racers dressed in full Red Bull attire, likened to a young Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

They are clearly happy to be playing with their new Red Bull car, but next to them lies a box labelled ‘unwanted toys’. And you can already guess what is in that box; a Mercedes car, a broken Ferrari car and a red book with the Ferrari logo and ‘strategy’ written across the top.

Red Bull are toying with their rivals and the Ferrari strategy books is a particularly poignant dig as they axed team principal Mattia Binotto at the end of the season because their title challenge fell apart due to bad decisions during races.
