Recently, Reliance Jio announced a delay in the launch of its much-awaited Jio Phone Next. Reliance and Google have collaborated to make the Jio Phone Next. The two companies have created a ‘special version of Android operating system’ for the phone.
Reliance has not specifically revealed the reason for the delay in the rollout of the JioPhone Next. The media statement mentions the current industry-wide, global semiconductor (chip) shortage which appears to be the reason for the delay. The chip industry globally has been reeling under shortage since early 2020. The shortage has affected companies across sectors including auto and technology.
