Many OTT users in India have been missing out on popular shows since Disney+ Hotstar lost out on HBO and Warner Bros. content. Some viewers were laser focused on completing series such as The Last of Us, Game of Thrones and others before they left the OTT platform on March 30.
Since then, Succession’s latest season has arrived and fans have been left without a platform to experience their beloved series on. However, this will not be the case for long. Warner Bros. Discovery and Viacom18 have just announced that JioCinema will become the new home for HBO, Max Original, and Warner Bros. content from May 2023.
This deal will also help JioCinema bolster their presence in the OTT industry and compete against rivals such Netflix and Amazon Prime. Through the deal, the viewers will also be able to watch all “HBO Original, Max Original and Warner Bros. Television series” on the same day of their premiere in the United States.
The new deal will bring popular properties from HBO such as “House of The Dragon, The Last of Us, Succession and The White Lotus, and returning seasons of True Detective: Night Country, Euphoria, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and Perry Mason.” HBO Originals that will be arriving through this deal include The Idol, White House Plumbers, The Sympathizer, The Regime Game of Thrones, Sex & The City, Big Little Lies, Chernobyl and Veep.
HBO Max Originals that will be arriving at JioCinema will include And Just Like That…, Peacemaker, and The Flight Attendant, along with premieres for Dune: The Sisterhood, The Penguin, Duster, East New York and Gotham Knights. Moreover, Future Warner Bros. blockbuster movies and with their vast film library including Harry Potter, Lord of
the Rings and DC Universe movies, along with kids animation titles such as Dexter Laboratory and Tom and Jerry Kids, will also be arriving at the platform.
