Remnant 2: How To Play Co-Op And Does It Have Cross-Play?
Though you can certainly play it solo with great success, Remnant II is designed to be enjoyed with pals. This challenging third-person shooter is a whole lot of fun with a few buddies by your side, and linking up with them takes only a few moments in most cases. Here’s how to play co-op, what limitations you may find, and whether Remnant II has cross-play support.
How to play multiplayer and invite friends in Remnant II
Linking up with friends (or strangers, even) in Remnant II is pretty straightforward. At any point after completing the game’s tutorial, head into your menu and scroll over to System. Here, select Friends and select from anyone on your friends list to invite them to your game.
Of course, you can also play with strangers online. Simply approach any World Stone and interact with it. At the bottom right of the wheel of biomes, click the Join Game option to open a new window where you’re likely to see around a dozen strangers whose games you can enter. Hovering over the circle above their usernames will give you insight as to where they’re located, what difficulty they’re playing on, and more. You can also click Quick Match in the center of this wheel to immediately join up with a random player.
Note that progress in co-op is only saved for the host. While you’ll be able to keep any earned Scrap, materials, and gear you earn while playing in someone else’s game, you will not retain any story progress when returning to your world.
Does Remnant II have cross-play?
One unfortunate omission in Remnant II is cross-play, meaning you can not link up with players on other platforms at this time. If your friends aren’t playing on the same platform as you, you’ll have no ability to engage in any sort of multiplayer functionality with them.
Whether Gunfire Games will ever add cross-play to Remnant II is uncertain at this point. We’ve reached out for comment and will be sure to update this information if this changes.
