Renuka Singh, Richa Ghosh left out; Shreyanka Patil ignored as India name women’s team for Bangladesh tour – Times of India
Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to lead the side, while Smriti Mandhana has been appointed as her deputy for the tour.
The Indian team is scheduled to compete in three T20Is and three ODIs against Bangladesh, with all six matches taking place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur.
The exclusion of wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh and off-spinner Shreyanka Patil from the Indian women’s cricket team is surprising, especially considering their recent performances. Patil impressed with nine wickets during India’s victory in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Hong Kong last month.
The reasons for Ghosh’s omission remain unclear, leaving fans and pundits curious about the decision. Similarly, Patil’s exclusion from making her debut in the senior side, despite her exceptional performances in Hong Kong, raises questions.
It has been reported that Renuka Singh is not part of the squad for the entire series due to an injury. In their absence, Yastika Bhatia and Uma Chetry have been included as the wicketkeepers in the squad.
Notably, spin all-rounder Sneh Rana is not part of the T20 squad but has secured a place in the ODI team. On the other hand, S Meghana has been included in the T20 format but has not found a place in the 50-over squad.
