Rio Ferdinand backed over stinging Marcus Rashford Man Utd criticism – ‘He’s got a point’

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has been backed over his criticism of Red Devils forward Marcus Rashford. Ferdinand hit out at Rashford’s body language following the 1-0 Premier League loss to Wolves on Monday. The England international failed to make an impact as a second-half substitute at Old Trafford.

Rashford has scored just two Premier League goals so far this season.

The 24-year-old missed the start of the campaign due to a shoulder injury and has been unable to rediscover his best form under previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

Ferdinand was not impressed with how Rashford portrayed himself in his 14-minute cameo against Wolves.

And former Tottenham striker Darren Bent agreed that Rashford, and a number of other United players, are not giving off an air of confidence like successful sides of the past.

“That could be down to him not being happy, not playing etc. But you’ve got to put that to one side.

“When you’re out of the team it’s about coming in and proving to the manager what you’re about and who you are.

“Maybe he feels he is not getting the opportunities he deserves. I don’t know.

“It’s hard to pinpoint one player – you can’t, all the players have to take responsibility from Cristiano [Ronaldo] at the top all the way down to all the other players.”
