Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden pair loses in Wimbledon semi-finals | Tennis News – Times of India
Despite their best efforts, Bopanna and Ebden lost the match 5-7, 4-6 after battling for one hour and 26 minutes.
As the sixth seed in the tournament, Bopanna and Ebden had a commendable journey. In the quarterfinals, they fought back from a set down to secure a victory against the Dutch pair of Tallon Griekspoor and Bart Stevens with a score of 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-2.
While this was a notable performance for Bopanna, it fell short of his quest to become the oldest Grand Slam champion in the Open Era across singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.
Bopanna, the only Indian in fray at the Wimbledon, had reached the final of the Australian Open earlier this year in the mixed doubles category alongside Sania Mirza.
Additionally, he has won two ATP titles in men’s doubles partnering with Matthew Ebden. This was Bopanna’s third appearance in a Wimbledon semifinal, with his previous one occurring in 2015.
Overall, he has reached four Grand Slam semi-finals in the men’s doubles category, with his best result being the runner-up position at the 2010 US Open.
