HIGHLIGHTS

  • Rohit Sharma ended the WTC cyle as India’s second-highest run-scorer
  • Kane Williamson led New Zealand to victory in the low-scoring WTC final
  • Ravindra Jadeja conceded the top spot in the all-rounders’ ranking to Jason Holder

Rohit scored 34 and 30 opening the batting for India in the final of the World Test Championship. He ended the WTC cycle with 1094 runs in 12 matches, making him India’s second highest run scorer in the championship behind vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (1159).

Williamson’s knocks of 49 and 52 not out in the low-scoring final against India have helped him move above the 900-point mark and he now enjoys a 10-point lead over Steve Smith (891 rating points). Williamson, who conceded the top spot to Smith two weeks ago, is back in the position he had first grabbed in November 2015 during a series against Australia.

Jadeja was the top ranked Test all-rounder in Tests for a week and currently has 377 rating points, putting him tied in second place with England’s Ben Stokes. West Indies’ Jason Holder has gone back to the top spot with 384 points.

Kyle Jamieson’s figures of five for 31 and two for 30 have in the WTC final pushed him up to a career-best 13th position in the bowlers’ rankings. His team mates Tim Southee and Neil Wagner maintained their positions of third and fifth respectively.
