Russia-Ukraine Crisis: STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl Could Be Delayed or Even Cancelled as the Developer Is Based in Kyiv

The world woke up with some distressing news earlier today, when news broke about the crisis between European countries Russia and Ukraine reaching fever pitch.

The tension between the nations had been palpable for the longest of time, and it seems like a war has been declared by Russia against Ukraine.

Citizens of Ukraine have already began evacuating the country’s major cities like Donetsk, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odessa and many more.

Along with that, the nation’s capital in Kyiv will also be affected a lot in the coming days, and this could be a serious problem for the rising Ukraine-based video game developers, GSC Game World.

Founded in 1995 at Kyiv, GSC Game World is probably the biggest video game developer in Easter Europe, and over the past 27 years, the company has released several popular titles including Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, which became a smash hit back in 2007.

Following the game’s success, the company began the development of a sequel titled Stalker 2 in 2009. However, following the company’s dissolution in 2011, it seemed like fans might never see another Stalker game again in the future.

However, in 2014, GSC Game World was revived, and four years later, the company delivered the news they had all been waiting for, in the revival of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl.

For the past few months, the game had received some hype with plans of an early 2022 release. However, earlier this year, the developers announced that the release date had been shifted to December 8, 2022, for the team to deliver a game that they are proud of.

At first, fans were disappointed about the slight delay. However, with the recent news regarding a possible invasion, it seems like Stalker 2 might face an uncertain future as it will be difficult for the developers to work on a game during a crisis like this.

In the end, it remains to be seen if the game will face any troubling delays. But, with the way things are going right now, it looks like fans might want to brace for some bad news.
