Samsung acquires patents for slidable wraparound display: Report – Smartprix

Samsung was one of the first smartphone brands to launch smartphones with foldable displays and ever since then, the company has launched various models of such phones. Now, it seems Samsung does not plan to use flexible screens for only foldable phones alone.

According to the new patent, it has registered, Samsung is working on a new smartphone that sports a flexible sliding display technology that wraps around the device itself. It is a wraparound kind of display that appears to be a curved edge from the front and extends to cover some portion of the back cover as well. The device has 2 housings and a flexible display that has 2 states.

The patent was seen on WIPO as reported by MySmartPrice. This smartphone will look normal from the front but will have an innovative design at the back. It will resemble Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha which featured a wrapped display. The flexible display covers half of the rear panel and the other half is covered by a triple camera module.

The rear cameras double as selfie shooters as seen in the image where a smaller half display on the rear can be seen showcasing the camera app. However, since there is no solid news about any particular smartphone being worked upon, it is still unsure if Samsung will work on such a phone or is just covering all its bases.
