Samsung Galaxy A23 5G gets Geekbench certifications, some key details revealed – Times of India

Samsung is set to expand its smartphone lineup with a new mid-range smartphone — the 5G variant of the Galaxy A23. The South Korean tech giant launched the 4G version of the Galaxy A23 in March that came powered by the Snapdragon 680 processor. According to a report by GSMArena, the upcoming 5G handset has been spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking site. The Geekbench version carried a model number SM-A236U which might be the US version, the report mentions. However, earlier reports claimed that the company is expected to announce a European version of the device as well. The Geekbench listings reveal that the Samsung Galaxy A23 5G will be powered by the Snapdragon 695 chipset and will run on One UI 4.0 based on Android 12.

As per the report, the 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy A23 smartphone is expected to share several specs with its 4G counterpart. The report even mentions having seen 3D renders of the upcoming handset which revealed that the phone is expected to sport a 6.55-inch display, however, the panel type has not been identified yet. On the other hand, the 4G variant features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD panel that supports a 90Hz refresh rate.
The Geekbench listing has revealed that the upcoming smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 695, which is an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 680, the report suggests. This new chipset features mmWave 5G support which is likely to be limited to the US. Moreover, the Snapdragon 695 chipset includes upgraded Kryo 660 cores and Adreno 619 which helps it to offer 15% higher CPU performance and 30% faster GPU speed.
The Samsung Galaxy A23 5G model that appeared on Geekbench offered 4GB RAM. However, the report mentions that the 5G variant is likely to offer multiple RAM configurations — 6GB or 8GB of RAM, just like the 4G model.
Apart from these, the 4G version houses a quad rear camera setup that includes — a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro unit and a 2MP depth sensor. Similarly, the 5G version is also expected to have the same camera specs except for a minor change — the upcoming smartphone may feature an upgraded 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The 4G variant also packs a 5000mAh battery unit that supports 25W fast charging and the 5G version is also likely to sport the same.
