Samsung Galaxy Ring, a smart wearable, to enter production next month – Smartprix Bytes

The rumors around Samsung’s next-gen smart wearable device – a ring, have been going on for a year now. Turns out we could get the first glance at the ring, possibly to be named ‘Galaxy Ring’ soon as the South Korean giant has finished the development process and will kickstart production starting next month.

As per what the latest rumors are saying, Samsung has already secured sourcing of hardware for its Galaxy Ring. Now that is sorted, all that remains is to decide when to start the production for the next-gen smart wearable.

Although production may commence as early as next month, we will have to wait for 2024 to show up to get our glimpse at the ring. The device has already gone through standard regulatory processes including certifications and has a ‘medical device’ status too which could include irregular heart rhythm tracking and ECG just like the Galaxy Watch series, however, take it with a pinch of salt at the moment.

South Korean publication The Elec has revealed this exciting progress stating that Samsung has completed testing a prototype just recently. The publication adds an expected release could be around the Samsung Galaxy S24 series next year. If not for the release, we should be able to see the first teasers around the Galaxy Ring by that time but again, no promises.

Coming back to the medical approval, the device will have to wait till January or February 2025 to get upgraded with health functions. The approval usually takes around 10 to 12 months which means we can expect it by early 2025 if the launch is soon enough.

Since it’s a ring that wraps around a finger closely, it should be able to detect blood flow consistently. However, the blood vessels around the finger being smaller than the wrist’s, could pose another hurdle that Samsung will have to defy. In any case, we at Smartprix will keep you in the loop whenever you get some info on the Samsung Galaxy Ring.
